Gafas progresivas mal centradas. ¿Por qué ocurre?

Poorly centered progressive lenses. Why does it happen?

The importance of properly centering progressive glasses

Are you aware of the problems caused by improperly centered PROGRESSIVE GLASSES? In our post today, we'll tell you all about it, the issues they cause, and the procedure we follow at ÓPTICA Y AUDIOLOGÍA LUPER MURCIA to properly center our customers' progressive glasses.

Problems arising from improperly centered progressive glasses:

When progressive lenses are not correctly centered, it can cause:

  • Double vision
  • Blurred vision
  • Reduced field of vision
  • Head movement up and down to see properly
  • Prismatic effect

What is the procedure for properly centering progressive lenses?

  1. Accurately measuring PD for progressive lenses (when choosing the frame, special measurements are taken; these points, which will coincide with the customer's pupillary centers, are taken so that the lens is perfectly mounted in the lab. Optimal vision only occurs when the optical center of the lenses is perfectly aligned with the customer's pupil.

If the optical center is not perfectly aligned with the pupil, the customer will be looking through a different area of the lenses.

  2. Frame: We recommend a frame at least 30 mm high. That is, from the top of the frame to the bottom should be 30 mm. This is because progressive lenses have three vision zones: distance vision, intermediate vision, and near vision. If a very small lens is used, the customer will have greater difficulty with their field of vision.

  3. Focal height: The distance between intermediate and near vision.
Both the PD and the fitting height are crucial measurements to ensure that the customer receives progressive lenses that are manufactured correctly according to their needs.

It is very important that the customer can see through the intermediate channel of the lens, which is relatively narrow, and for this reason, it is so important that the progressive lens is adequately centered.

Who are progressive glasses recommended for?

Progressive glasses are ideal for people who suffer from presbyopia (also known as presbyopia) and also have any of the following visual defects:

  • Myopia
  • Hyperopia
  • Astigmatism

These same progressive lenses will help us correct any visual defect we may have.

At ÓPTICA Y AUDIOLOGÍA LUPER MURCIA, we use progressive lenses designed in Italian laboratories with experience in lens manufacturing since 1949.

Progressive lenses will allow you not to miss anything and to see clearly at different distances (far, near, and intermediate distance).

Furthermore, at Óptica y Audiología LUPER Murcia, we have the latest technology, and our opticians will provide you with a simulation of how you will see with your new progressive glasses.
