How to clean your hearing aids every day
Do it when you take them out, before storing or charging them. It works for any type of hearing aid.
Dry cloth or alcohol-free wipe
Wipe the whole surface with a soft, dry cloth or a wipe made for hearing aids. Never wet them or put them in water.
Brush the microphones and vent
Use the brush to gently remove wax and dirt from the microphone and vent openings, without forcing it inside.
Store them dry
At night, in their container with a drying tablet, or in the charger if they're rechargeable. Clean the charging contacts with a dry cloth.
So you don't damage them
Mistakes when cleaning hearing aids
- Washing them or putting them in water. Water damages the electronics.
- Using alcohol or abrasive products. The coating that protects them from moisture is sensitive to alcohol.
- Spraying directly onto the hearing aid. Apply the spray to the cloth or brush instead.
- Forcing the brush into the microphone openings: you could damage it.
- Not changing the wax filters when they're blocked: the wax blocks the sound outlet.
- Leaving them exposed to moisture or extreme temperatures.

RIC or RITE behind-the-ear
- Surface and wire: dry cloth or alcohol-free wipe.
- The domes are not washed: if they have wax on them, replace them with new ones.
- Change the wax filter when it's blocked or the hearing aid sounds odd.
Behind-the-ear with earmould
- Clean the hearing aid with a dry cloth.
- If the earmould has no electronics, it can be detached and washed with water and mild soap. Dry it completely before fitting it back on.
- If the tube turns yellow or stiff, it needs replacing: pop into the centre.
In-the-ear
- Soft, dry cloth. Never water.
- Gently brush the microphone and vent, without letting the filters fall out.
- Change the filters when they get blocked; always use the same type we gave you.

How often should hearing aids be cleaned?
Every day, when you take them out: a soft, dry cloth or an alcohol-free wipe, and the brush on the microphone and vent. Also, bring them to the hearing centre for their regular check-ups.
Which products are safe for cleaning hearing aids?
Products made for hearing aids: alcohol-free wipes, cleaning spray applied to the cloth or brush, and drying tablets to remove moisture. You'll find them in our shop, from €7.
How do I remove wax from my hearing aids?
With the brush, without forcing it into the openings. If the wax filter is blocked or the hearing aid sounds odd, change the filter; if the domes are full of wax, replace them with new ones.
Can I wash my hearing aids with water?
No. Hearing aids must not be washed or put in water. Only the earmould of behind-the-ear models, if it has no electronics, can be detached and washed with water and mild soap, then dried completely before fitting it back.
How often should the wax filter be changed?
When it's blocked or the hearing aid sounds odd. Some manufacturers recommend changing it at least once a month. Always use the same type of filter we gave you with your hearing aids.

Earwax can block the sound outlets and filters; moisture can damage the components; and cleaning improves hygiene. With daily cleaning and regular check-ups, the average lifespan of a hearing aid is over 6 years.
How to clean your hearing aids properly
Wash your hands, wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth or an alcohol-free hearing aid wipe, use the brush on the microphone and vent, and store them dry with drying tablets or in their charger. Change the wax filter when it gets blocked. Each type has its own needs: on behind-the-ear models with an earmould, the earmould can be washed if it has no electronics; on RIC models, the domes are replaced; on in-the-ear models, never use water.

Pedí dos gafas, unas normales y otras de sol graduadas. Las dos llegaron normales y tuve que esperar otras 3 semanas en tener las de sol (pagadas desde el primer día, claro).
Pero bueno, eso considero que es un fallo humano y ya está, no es lo peor. Lo que más me molesta es que no veo bien con ellas, me graduaron rápido y mal (y eso que iba con cita).

Quiero destacar especialmente la atención de Carolina en Ópticas LUPER Murcia. Mi caso es complejo (trasplante de córnea de hace más de 40 años, con antecedentes de rechazo), y aun así se tomó el tiempo de explicarme cada prueba con mucha paciencia y profesionalidad. No estaba obligada a dedicarme tanto tiempo ni a hacerme pruebas adicionales, y aun así no dudó en ayudarme sin ningún coste.
