Its benefits are many; among others, acetate lightens the weight of the frame and gives it greater resistance compared to other materials such as plastic. This is because an acetate frame is carved from a block while plastic is injected and tends to break easily. Likewise, acetate is malleable so that it can be heated and then return to its original shape, whereas plastic melts at high temperatures.
In addition, it is a hypoallergenic material that prevents possible allergic reactions such as those caused by metal frames, corrosion and color wear.
What is its manufacturing process?
1. Acetate sheets: new acetate combinations are created by mixing organic colors. Rollers help blend the mass into acetate sheets to achieve striking colors. The acetate film is cut into small pieces. These layers are molded into larger blocks.
2. Cutting and molding: the frames acquire their shape according to the design prepared by the technician.
3. Polishing: the components of the glasses are kept in barrels the size of a washing machine filled with wood chips and small stones. The components are mixed for hours. Subsequently, an experienced technician polishes each frame.
4. Assembly: other technicians assemble the temples with the front of the frame, insert the hinges and small screws. Finally, the lenses are inserted, adjusted and the glasses are cleaned.
